Bethesda, MD – [March 23, 2022]: Eat the Change Impact (ETC Impact), the philanthropic partner of the plant-based snack company Eat the Change announced it is once again expanding the size of its grant program for 2022. Founded in 2020 by social entrepreneurs Seth Goldman and Julie Farkas, ETC Impact works to promote and expand access to climate-friendly foods across the nation. In 2020 the grant program had committed to invest $1 million over three years to support a diverse group of changemaking organizations, but with today’s announcement, the three-year total will amount to $1.385 million.

“Our daily choices of what and how we consume is the most powerful way people can make a difference for the future of our planet,” said Co-Founder of Eat the Change Seth Goldman. Julie Farkas added, “These grants will be focused on expanding access and awareness of the benefits of planet-friendly diets.  We are so inspired by the Changemakers we have supported and want to see them flourish.”

In 2022, Eat the Change expects to award more than 30 grants in the amounts of $10,000 to $25,000 to individuals and organizations that educate and inspire communities to eat more planet-friendly foods.

“The grants received from Eat the Change Impact are instrumental in funding the operating support across our programs, which are all based on sustainable agriculture,” said Development Director for Grow Dat Youth Farm Julie Gable. “We’ve received grants from Eat the Change Impact two years in a row and are excited to see the organization align with nonprofits that are trying to change the health of our planet.”

Grant recipients will be selected based on alignment with the following core values:

  • Eating with intention: helping people learn more about where their food comes from; how it's grown, processed, packaged, and distributed; and its environmental impact
  • Fact-based science: promoting analysis, understanding, and education about the link between diet and climate change, with a focus mainly on reduced food waste, plant-based foods, organic agriculture, support for biodiversity, water efficiency, and sustainable packaging
  • Democratizing access: expanding access to planet-friendly products and initiatives in historically underserved communities, through improved distribution, pricing, and community engagement
  • Innovation: supporting creative and emerging approaches that drive new ways of thinking and eating, including technological improvements, public art, and everything in between

In 2021, ETC Impact received more than 100 applications from nonprofit organizations in 31 states. After an extensive screening process, ETC Impact awarded grants to 36 Changemaker Organizations.

“Thanks to Eat the Change Impact, we were able to create and spearhead Maryland Vegan Restaurant Week, which encourages restaurants to add more plant-based options to their menu,” said Executive Director of Black Veg Society Naijha Wright-Brown. “Restaurant week attracts people who may be trying plant-based foods for the first time and allows us a platform to open a dialogue about food that is better for us, our environment and animals.”

The grant application for this year's Changemakers program opens on March 23 and organizations will be able to apply until 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time on May 14. Grant awards will be announced in late July 2022. For more information on ETC Impact, please visit
